There’s no such thing as a typical workday at Grand River Rubber and Plastics. For Tony Vencill, Product Specialist, that lack of monotony only energizes him each and every day. Tony previously worked at Plastpro, Inc., a fiberglass door manufacturing company, and joined the Grand River team in 2012, and he hasn’t looked back since.

“I started here as an auditor in the lathe cut, sweeper belt and white cell departments. I then moved to the sweeper belt lab in 2016-2017.” Tony has worked with multiple measuring tools as well as running and programming the micro-vu. He tests incoming glue and lube for multiple departments. 

For 12 years, he’s enjoyed the challenges of daily problem-solving and appreciates that the work he does is not repetitive. “There seems to be something new daily. A typical work week always presents a new challenge, an opportunity to learn something new,” shares Tony.

Growing up, Tony always wanted to be a professional athlete. Having a heart for sports, he has always been an avid Pittsburgh fan; and while it’s true that he’s very into the Penguins and the Pirates, the Pittsburgh Steelers are his true passion!

Tony lives in the Kingsville, Ohio area and spends his summers at his boat club in Ashtabula. He shares, “I enjoy spending time with my kids, grandkids, and our two dogs out on the boat and at the sandbar. I have made many close friends over the years through our boat club and the pool leagues that my wife and I are involved in.”

Enjoying time with friends and family is what it’s all about. When he’s not at work, you’ll find Tony boating, golfing, or playing pool. He enjoys his summers grilling his favorites, which include chicken, burgers, hotdogs, and ribs.
