Meet Robin Palm, Accounting Assistant/Vacation Replacement at Grand River Rubber & Plastics. Robin has been working at Grand River Rubber & Plastics since 2021, and has 29 years of experience in the accounting industry. She is resourceful, flexible, and enjoys applying her critical thinking skills to her job each and every day. Read below as Robin shares a little about herself and her experience at GRRP.
Robin started off by studying in the Administrative Secretary program at Ashtabula County Joint Vocational School; she did this while also working as a bookkeeper at a small car lot. She then attended Kent State University where she earned a Dual-Associate Degree in Office Management and Business Management Technologies. The early part of her career was spent at two public accounting/consulting firms, and the latter half was spent in the private sector at two companies in the fuel/lubricants industry. Both companies were family-owned businesses. This is where she discovered that she prefers the private sector of business and accounting.
The Accounting Assistant/Vacation Replacement position fills in for accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and raw material reporting; she wears many hats! She appreciates that this position offers the opportunity to be involved in and learn the procedures of accounting at GRRP. Robin shares, “What makes me proud about working at Grand River is being part of a group of co-workers who work hard and are committed to making this company a success.” Each week presents its own set of challenges, yet Robin welcomes those challenges with open arms and enjoys problem solving with the various teams here at GRRP.
When she’s not at work, Robin enjoys cruising either in a shiny, new convertible or a Jeep. She’s often looking for new parks and places to hike or play with her nephew. In the summer, she likes to boat and fish with her husband and brothers. In the winter, jeeping is still fun, but Robin often finds herself spending more time working on her home and cooking for family and friends. Her all-time favorite pastime is live entertainment, mostly going to concerts and seeing comedians. However, when it’s the season for it, she believes that the rodeo is the BEST form of live entertainment!
Robin and her husband live in the country, and enjoy spending time outdoors. They like to spend time watching the beautiful sunsets over the lakes, hanging out by the fire on a cool evening, and taking in the rodeo during the fall and winter. She likes to try new recipes, kitchen gadgets, and enjoys eating healthy. For entertainment on a night in, she finds documentaries about strange and unexplained phenomena fascinating! Thank you, Robin, for all of your hard work at Grand River Rubber and Plastics! You are a valuable part of the operations here and are very much appreciated.
